Well this is pretty cool: Gov. Mikie Sherrill has announced she and her family will be moving into Drumthwacket.

Why is this cool? She’ll be the first governor since Jim McGreevey to actually live in the governor’s mansion. Which is named Drumthwacket. And since the mansion is just a few miles down the road from me, I expect to see Sherrill and her brood around town.

It’s nice.

Also: It gives me an excuse to say, spell, write, and type “Drumthwacket” to my heart’s content.

First off, it sounds like something out of a Dr. Seuss book.

Ahem.

Oh, the places you’ll go in the state of New Jersey! You might end up somewhere that sounds topsy-turvy. There’s a mansion called Drumthwacket, yes, DRUMTHWACKET, I say! Where the governor naps at the end of the day.

It sits on a hill with its columns so tall, with a Drumthwacket door and a Drumthwacket hall, and a Drumthwacket garden with Drumthwacket trees, and a Drumthwacket wind making Drumthwacket breeze.

Now YOU could say Drumthwacket. Go on, say it twice. Say it three times! Say four! Doesn’t Drumthwacket sound nice? It’s the THWACK that’s the trick and the DRUM that’s the fun. It’s the silliest mansion under the sun.

So if anyone asks you, “What’s there, down the Pike?” You just puff up your chest and say what you like: “There is Drumthwacket, friend, and I’ll tell you what’s more -- it’s the THWACKETIEST place you could ever explore!”

So there’s that.
